Today is Monday: By Eric Carle

Today is Monday is probably my Kindergartener's favorite book. I'm not kidding when I say that they have memorized the entire thing. Probably helps that it's also a song. Which gets sung whenever I ask them "What day is it today class", which is answered through the entire class breaking into song. *Sigh*, they are adorable...but can be a handful.

Today is also my 2 month anniversary of my arrival in South Korea, and I'm officially settled in. No doubt about it. I feel as if Daejeon is my home for now, and I'm starting to enjoy it. I have my little routines. I buy a coffee on my way to school every morning. I pop into the tous la jour on the corner for my bread once a week, I know my favorite grocery stores, and what places have the best pizza. I even know where to do internet shopping, and I can figure out buses and subways and trains. I live in a big city for the first time in my life, where houses are few and far between, and I don't mind it at all. I like that almost everything is close enough to walk to, and that I just have to go out my building and a little to the left to get to a great restaurant. I have even started to adopt little Korean fashion accessories, such as headbands with bows. I love them. I own two now.

This weekend I really felt like a grown up. I need to stop being shocked about that. I'm a university graduate, I'm 22 (24 in Korean age!!) and I live alone. This weekend I had to deal with an unfortunate head lice situation by myself, and I also made it to church by myself. It was my first time taking a cab by myself! It was good though, I felt as if I accomplished a lot.

This week as SLP is going to be a good one! I love Monday's, I get to do library with my kindergarteners, I have a helper and then I get to go home. Tuesdays are also pretty good, since I have gym with the kids right away. This week I also have 3 birthday parties in my class, as well as a big Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) celebration on Friday! Friday is also the day Tina and Calla come!

I've very excited to be able to show my sister my life here in Korea. She'll get to come to the school, and visit some of the places I like to go. It'll be nice to have family here, and feel like I'm the host! I finally bought a camera too, so hopefully it will arrive in time and I'll take loads of pictures when Tina and Calla are here!
