I'm a LONG way from home....

Where to start!! I honestly don't even know. I guess I can start with the trip.

Thankfully, the trip was pretty uneventful. Vancouver to LA was awesome, a short 2.5 hrs and I was in the exit row with no one in the seat beside me. Tons of room! When I got to LA I found my way around pretty easily, I just had to go one terminal over to catch my flight and my baggage was transfered for me (thankfully!) On Korean Air I didn't have quite the luxury of my last flight, I was nestled quite snuggly inbetween two middle aged Korean men for the 12.3 hr flight. But thanks to a gravol and a free little glass of wine with dinner I slept on and off for probably half of the flight. When I got to Korea I was exhausted. I got through baggage and customs no problem, but when I was trying to find my bus I kept getting turned around. I asked a bunch of info desks/ticket desks for help but I was pretty much being sent in circle. Before I had a melt down I decided to take a break (I had a couple hours) and wash my face and brush my teeth and change my clothes. After I did that I felt a lot calmer and was able to make it safely to my bus stop. After my 3 hour bus ride to Daejeon (if you're keeping track thats 2.5, plus 12.5 and now 3...not counting all the waiting around in airports and bus stops) I got out expecting someone to be meeting me...but no one was there. About 20 minutes later someone showed up and I was taken pretty much straight to the school where I had to meet a couple of my co-workers (after approx. 25 hrs of travel and very little sleep). Needless to say, I was looking, feeling, and probably smelling my best...not. I wasn't at the school for long though, I made it to my apartment (which I still have no idea is in comparison to the school) and now I've almost fully unpacked! So that was my travelling experiences!

I haven't had very many Korean-y experiences yet...but I'm sure I'll have a TON. I showered in my non-enclosed shower today...that'll take some practice. I also had a Korean-ish sandwich? That's false...I was given a Korean-ish sandwich and I did not eat it. It smelled funky.

That's about it for now!
I'll continue to update!

Anna,

Thanks so much for posting! I look froward to reading all of these little scripts from you guys. Perhaps I should start a blog back here? It seems appropriate. I'm glad you're safe, I'm sorry Korean food isn't pleasing thus far, and I hope you buy a tupperware for your TP! :) Love you, and I love the old luggage in the background-- the first two are EXACTLY like the ones I have been imagining in my mind and endlessly searching for. Love you :) Al.
