I honestly can't believe how fast the weeks go here. I feel as if I Just wrote about last week. And now this past week has come and gone and I'm not sure how that happened.
This week was far less stressful than last week, and had a lot of fun things happen. I decided that I just needed to have a really positive attitudes in my toughest classes (which are on Tuesday/Thursdays). So I went in there on Tuesday with energy and excitement, but I also cracked down on the kids. I'm pretty sure they all thought that I was just a huge push-over, so I decided that I wasn't going to be anymore. We still had fun, I played games...but looking me in the eye and rambling on in Korean (which I don't understand but KNOW they are saying mean things) and hitting other kids is just not acceptable. So I went in with just a way better attitude, and Tuesday/Thursday turned out to be alright days! I also had to write monthly plans, which were trickier than I thought they would be...but I got through them :)
Thursday I also got my first teacher present. I was pretty excited about it. I got a gift simply because I had a new student. Score. I got some really nice bath stuff, which I heard you get a lot of...but right now it's still sweet since I didn't bring much from home. Thursday Kristin and I went out for a good Korean meal. Okay, that's a total lie. We went out for greasy chicken burgers and the best french fries I've ever had. They were SO GOOD.
Friday was my first fieldtrip with my kids! I was really nervous about it at first, because I thought that if it was something lame my kids would just get really bored and start misbehaving...but it was an absolute blast! So tiring, but so much fun. I just liked seeing them excited and having fun after doing so much learning. My favorite little guy didn't stop jumping up and down from the moment I walked into class in the morning until after we were back from the trip. We went to a Dibo exhibit (pretty much a barney rip-off), and there were huge blow up slides, and jumping castles, and bikes, and bumper-boats and cookie making...a blast.
Friday night we met up with Katlyn, Robyn and Heather and had a great night catching up, hanging out, experiencing horrible norebong, and hanging out at our favorite spot in Mannyeon Dong...the GS (haha).
Today we took it easy. We were going to go for a nice walk around the river, but the weather had other plans for us. As we were walking there all of a sudden a thunderstorm appeared. It was actually pretty awesome. We went out for some Galbi (yum!!) and ice cream, and then the girls headed for Costco. I'm REALLY looking forward to getting paid so I can do some costco shopping.
Some Korean Moments:
- I'm starting to like Kimchi!
- People here don't just spit...they hork. And it's so gross.
- When taking a picture, you don't say cheese, you say "Kimchi!"
- Finally the weather is starting to be not so suffocating. It's wonderful :)
- Mom's touch fries are a little piece of North America right in Mannyeon Dong.
Countdowns:
- Tina and Calla visit: 20 days!!!!
- NHL Season Starts: 40 days :)
- Peter Visits: 82 days!

what's GS?
I'm glad you're having fun, and by the way, I'm totally jealous of your field trip! It sounds only vaguely educational, the kind kids love! Score! I'm happy you're figuring out the whole discipline thing too...that's what I'm most worried about screwing up when I start. Trial and error, I guess, eh?
Miss ya buddy, keep having a blast!
