Progress: Although I don't really feel as if that much has been happening, I've still been surprisingly busy! I picked up another class, so my days have gotten a little busier. I have a big break in my days Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, but I have to go back to the school and teach a class from 5:50 to 7:20. The only thing that makes going back to the school alright is the Kids. They're a ton of fun, and a great way to end the day. The break in the day has given me a lot of time to go to the gym though! I set a goal for myself in the middle of October that I would be able to run 10K by the end of November..and I'm almost there! I just recently made it to the 8K mark. Honestly, the biggest hurdle was getting over 6K, I was stuck there for a couple weeks, and when I made it to 7 one night it felt great!
Other than these things, not a whole lot has been happening! We're starting to practice for our Christmas presentations in Kindergarten (I can't believe it!) and they're still keeping me on my toes. Last week one of my kids said "Anna Teacher, you're so thin". I gave him a sticker. That one will be a sweet talker. My Assistant teacher also taught him to say "Sue teacher is young". So impressionable!
Pepero:
Today as Canada is having Remembrance Day, South Korea celebrated "Pepero Day". I'll let Wikipedia handle the explanation of this one: Pepero Day is an observance in South Korea similar to Valentine's Day. It is named after the Korean snack Pepero and held on November 11, since the date "11/11" resembles four sticks of Pepero.[3][4] The holiday is observed mostly by young people and couples, who exchange Pepero sticks, other candies, and romantic gifts. Lotte denies starting the holiday and instead states that they noticed a bump in Pepero sales around November 11th and after continued popularity they decided to then encourage the holiday with special gift boxes and other promotions.[2] Some consider it to be a contrived holiday and some teachers have encouraged children to exchange healthy snacks to help combat obesity.
Pretty much I have completely overloaded on chocolate all day. So great. In one of my classes today, I said "Today is also a special day in Canada, does anyone know what it is?" One boy completely raised his hand and in complete seriousness said, "chopstick day?" I have to say, I'm very proud of myself for holding it together, every part of me wanted to burst out laughing.
And so, that's what I've been up to lately! This weekend will be one full of coffee and Kinder Reports...I have 20 and haven't finished a single one. Ugh.
Next weekend I have a visitor (my friend Peter) from Canada! I'm very excited!
Peace and Love.
