Visitors make me homesick...

Okay, okay, okay. So don't get me wrong. I LOVE having visitors. It's so so great to see a familiar face from Canada that I don't get to see everyday. I guess it's mostly when visitors leave that I get homesick. Peter visited from Canada this past weekend, and it was a lot of fun! But now he's in a different part of Korea and I'm sitting in my apartment eating KD (YUM!), listening to Christmas music (I know...too early..) and missing home.
As much as I do miss home sometimes, I do love Korea as well. This weekend reminded me how much I love "my" city. Peter arrived on Friday afternoon, and Katlyn met up with us for dinner. Kristin and I took them to a Dak Galbi place in our neighborhood. One of my favorite food places! After that we met up with Rob's and went back to open the package we got from three AMAZING people back home (thank you x1000 Ash, Al and Danielle :)) Which was stuffed with amazing things from home like Dorrito's, sour keys, fun dips and chocolate as well as fun games and wigs that are sure to be worn in some interesting places! There was even a friendly face in the box ;). Not to mention warm lovely and appreciated messages from home:). After the package excitement had sunk in we headed downtown to meet up with some Co-Workers.
Saturday I decided we should all go on a hike up Bomunsan Mountain! So we set out at around noon and hiked it up! It as a little hazy, and only four of us made it all the way up to the peak, but it was a great time! There was a Buddhist temple on the way up which was super interesting, and there was a lady selling popsicles up at the top! (She hiked up with a refrigerated box on her back! Hardcore!). Rob's and I also decided to have a leaf fight on the way down the mountain...obviously...because it's FALL.
We all parted way at the taxi's and Peter, Kristin and I headed to Eunhangdong to explore the markets! The markets are filled with all sorts of crazy foods and random Korean stuff and a TON of fresh gross seafood. The smell is overwhelming, but it's pretty cool! I know it's lame...but I was totally korean-fooded out so we took Peter to "Bonbon's" an amazing Italian restaurant in Daejeon. Peter has been travelling Asia for a month, so he insisted that he felt alright taking a break from Asian food (Thanks Peter...even if it was just to make me feel non-guilty!). We headed back to my place and watched "How to Train your Dragon" (I'm usually not an animated type of person...but it was pretty good!)

Sunday we took it pretty easy, went to church, took a walk along the gapcheon and saw the Expo-Bridge in all it's glory and ate some yummy yummy Galbi (Korean BBQ).

Today Peter came along to one of my Kindergarten classes. They were CRAZY. They love when I have visitors! He sat in a one of the boys desks so at first all of the kids called him Han Jin, but as soon as they learned his name was Peter they insisted on calling him "Peter Pan Teacher". I tried to explain that he wasn't actually a teacher...but that didn't really sink in. One boy also called him "mustache grandfather", as "Tinkerbell Teacher". Oh F Class!

Our last stop before I sent him to his friend Kristin's place in Dangjin was the "New Downtown" to grab a cup of Christmas Java.

All in all it was a good weekend. And reminded me that Daejeon really is pretty awesome in a lot of ways. I'm glad I'm here :)

Peace and Love.
