One week as Afternoon Teacher

I guess it hasn't technically been one week yet. But close enough. I thought that there would be more ups and downs in this job, but for the most part it's actually been better than I thought it would be.

A typical day in an Afternoon teachers life:
Every other day I have the morning off and have to go into school at 1:30. The other days I get up and go to school at the same time as I used to, 9:10. This is just in case any morning teachers are sick or get sick.

In the mornings we spend the day trying to amuse ourselves. So far I've read books, written blogs, emailed friends, skyped my mom, applied to college, done soduku's, gone for coffee, and of course...prepared for my afternoon classes.

Today is Monday, which is my easiest day at school. I have the morning at school as a helper, and then I only have one class in the afternoon, my favorite class.

My new favorite class is a milestones class. These are kids who used to be in Kindergarten at SLP but now come for an hour and a half in the afternoon after Korean school. I have a group of 6 kids, 5 boys and 1 girl. They are hilarious, and I clicked with them right away. I knew they would be my new favorites when I came in, cracked a joke and all the kids started laughing. I love being funny, so they won my love right at that moment.

I only work until 7:20 one night a week, which is actually less than when I was a kindergarten teacher! (figure that one out...) Three days a week I work until 5:40, and one night I work until 4. Not bad...

Although my new schedule is pretty sweet, I still do miss teaching my little ones. Seeing them in the hallways gets me all teary-eyed and sentimental. It's definitely made me realize what I want to do with my life.

Other than school, life has been pretty boring lately! We had a chill weekend. Robs and Katlyn came down, we went out for Lindsey's birthday, Katlyn got her nose pierced, Korean lessons, etc. Pretty standard! This coming weekend is yet another Seoul weekend for me. (I love that city).

More to come friends!

Peace and Love.
