It strikes me as kind of funny that in a country that has so many churches and christians that Easter isn't really all that big of a deal. Actually, same goes for Christmas. It was strange having to work on Good Friday, it's something I'm not really used to. Regardless, I had a pretty fantastic weekend!
On Friday Kristin and I caught a cab then a bus right after I ended work and headed to CheongJu for the night. We walked to "Pearl Jam" an Irish Pub and had delicious Burgers and POUTINE. So amazing. We just sat around talking for a while and then headed back to Katlyn's place.

The next morning we were going to go to the orphanage again, but decided to head up to Sangdang fortress which Kristin and I have been hearing about for MONTHS but finally got to experience for ourselves! It was beautiful there, although a little windy! We did the whole walk, which only took us about 1.5 hrs tops! We had some funny experiences along the way. Some of which include a group of Korean men dressed in their full dress-suits, me drinking a large coffee and having to find a place hidden in the woods to pee (embarrassing!), crazy Korean men trying to take pictures of us but failing epicly, A korean woman doing a photoshoot for us (we asked her to take one picture but she ended up taking about 10), and an incident where we asked a man to take our picture but he thought we were asking him to move...so he pretty much ran away from us.

All in all, it was just nice to be out in the fresh air and nature and doing a little bit of physical activity. On the way back down to CheongJu we had one of the worst public transit experiences I've had in Korea. This man would NOT leave us alone, as well as not being able to move at ALL because the bus was so crammed full. Korean Ajumma's kept pushing me, and I felt like yelling "Where do you expect me to move!", even though they would not understand me. Finally we just decided to get off early and take a cab, it was just too much.
When we got back we waited a bit for Rob's to get back from the orphanage and then decided to meet her at the "meat and egg" Korean BBQ place. So delicious! Then Kristin and I decided to head back to Daejeon, which ended up being PERFECT timing and we didn't have to wait at all for a bus. Love when that happens!
At midnight I had an amazing hot chocolate since LENT IS OVER. I've been overloading on chocolate ever since.

Sunday morning felt a little strange. Getting up and not heading to Church for a pancake breaky. But, the alternative was pretty amazing! I headed over to Paul and Cecelia's for a huge Easter brunch. I'm not kidding when I say huge, it was amazing. There was ham, egg bake, fresh banana bread, french toast casserole with cool whip, hash browns, fruit salad, mimosa's and HOMEMADE CREAM EGGS! So great! We spent the morning eatting great food and watching hockey (gotta love the time difference sometimes!) Then Kristin, Jodi and I headed to church for the Easter service. It was really nice, some great songs sang, a good sermon, and afterwards, a picnic!

I know, like we needed more food after that brunch, right! But we decided to go along. All us non-car-owners piled in a bus the church had and headed down to KRISS park. I had never been before, and it's actually a research center that a few ladies from church work at, but it has beautiful grounds! There was a big field and fire pits to bbq, and tables and chairs under budding trees. Sounds nice right? There was also a big pond with coy fish and a gazebo and tellis. We pigged out on chicken and hot dogs and gimbap and mandu's and salads and cookies. Then we had a good old-fashioned easter-egg hunt! I don't even remember the last time I had an easter egg hunt! But it was a lot of fun, although our team lost. The winning team has to do an offeratory song in church next week...sooo, I think we actually kind of won, :P haha.
And now it is Easter Monday (what, really, is the purpose of Eater Monday? Someone..enlighten me, Please!) And I'm at work. This morning I got to teach some of my old Kindies because David had to go for a root canal. It was AWESOME. I miss those kids, they are great. But it made me a little sad too.
Now that my Chocolate countdown is finished, I have a new one,
Jeju: 10 Days! WooHoo! Can't wait :) Then the DMZ the next weekend! May is going to be a great month.
Since it's still Easter in Canada, I'll say it one more time. Happy Easter Friends! Peace and Love.
