I know I'm escaping the winter in just one short week...but right now I've got a serious case of the winter blahs. I think one of the biggest things might be that it is so so cold here, but not a glimpse of snow to be seen! We had one day where it was snowy, but it was melting as it hit the ground. If it's this cold out, there should at least be some snow...Right?
I love my job, don't get me wrong. But I can't wait for a break from a school that has the worst heating of any building I've ever been in. This past weekend I stocked up on some long sleeve shirts and big wooly sweaters to keep myself from freezing throughout the day!
Another winter blah is the fact that in just a few days my whole family will be together. And not just my immediate family (although that too), but my extended family as well! I'm just not used to missing out on good quality family time. Thanksgiving was my first major holiday away from home, and that was pretty difficult for me. I just really hate the thought of everyone hanging out without me. I'm sure the distraction of Thailand will keep me a little less homesick than if I was sticking around Daejeon.
Finally, I'm finding it difficult to motivate myself to do anything other than curl up in my comfy bed with my comfy blankets, sip hot chocolate and read or watch TV. It's just too cold to do anything else.
BUT...there are a few rays of sunshine on the horizon to cure my case of the winter blahs (other than the obvious Thailand trip!). First, our directors have been generous enough to offer us foreign teachers their condo at Muju Ski Resort for the weekend! All us girls are for-going the skiing and planning on doing some serious tobogganing! I'm pretty pumped about that.
THEN, on Sunday we're having out Canada Girls Christmas Party! Complete with Christmas Dinner. What's not to love about that right! I'm hosting, so I've been busy all week making decorations and planning things out. Should be TONS of fun.
Finally, our school is having a "Meat Party", to "Cerebrate with our CO-workers" (Ahhh Konglish...). Pretty Much we're going to eat a ton of meat and hang out. Should be a good way to spend Christmas Eve's Eve. :)
Hope your Cars are starting (Especially yours Mom ;)) and you're drinking lots of hot drinks :)
Peace and Love.
